The ideal candidate will be fully CCAB or CIMA qualified and have the ability to demonstrate relevant skills and experience required for the role. Good knowledge of accountancy and IT packages, a team player with a flexible approach are all attributes that we want.

JOB PURPOSE:

To support the Director of Finance/DCEO in the management of the Finance Team, which provides financial services in relation to Revenue Budgets, Management Accounts, Annual Report, Financial Policies and Procedures as well as providing advice and guidance to budget holders as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Tasks

· Support the Director of Finance/DCEO in the management of the finance team

· Provide agreed detailed revenue and capital budgets to established timeframes

· Provide management with financial forecasts in line with an agreed timeframe

· Provide financial advice and assistance in support of budget preparation and monitoring undertaken by Budget holders

· Provide specific financial and usage reports showing actual results against budget targets and prior year performance

· Support the internal audit process and develop and implement process improvements where relevant

· Contribute in the preparation of the Group’s Annual Report and support the external audit process

· Ensure the effective and efficient management of the purchase ledger and sales ledger monitoring and reviewing processes as appropriate

· Ensure the prompt and accurate input of all documents to financial systems

· Provide financial information in support of funding applications

· Adhere to external compliance requirements

· Adhere to standards agreed with Director of Finance/DCEO, Auditors and the Company’s Board of Directors

· Contribute to the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and liaise with HM Customs & Revenue on related matters

· Monitor and interpret VAT legislation and ensure appropriate implementation relevant to the Company

· Support the Director of Finance/DCEO in the review and development of procurement practices

· Review current data streams to financial system and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate

· Ensure compliance with the Company’s financial regulations and procedures

· Ensure timely payment to payroll creditors and review where appropriate internal control procedures in relation to payroll

Health and Safety

· To comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all supplementary legislation

Human Resources

· To ensure, in liaison with the Head of Corporate Support Services, that all Company Human Resources Policies are maintained and adhered to

· Contribute to the recruitment and selection of staff

· Supervise and review performance of individuals within the team

· Ensure individuals and team members have relevant skills to perform their duties and appropriate development opportunities are identified accordingly

General

· Seek to achieve continuous improvement in the accounting procedures employed within the Company and the quality of financial information and advice provided by the Company

· Contributing to the review of financial policies and procedures where relevant

· Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines

· Provide and attend any relevant training and CPD
