About the role


It won’t come as a surprise that our seasonal jobs are during our busy summer months. There are a variety of positions available, but each one will play a part in delivering our key message “leave no trace”. Our seasonal jobs are available from April until September (maximum contract length is 27 weeks).


We are looking for individuals who have excellent people skills, are enthusiastic about the outdoors and passionate about the countryside to join our team of Seasonal Rangers.


Supporting our work managing visitor related pressures and ensuring all visitors to the National Park have a fantastic experience, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:


- Excellent communication interpersonal skills

- A positive and flexible attitude.

- Experience of visitor management or work in a customer focused role.

- Knowledge of and interest in the environment and countryside issues

Positions available:


Visitor Management – These positions are park wide and help us manage visitor pressure around the park by patrolling all areas including our Camping Management Zones and permit areas. The role is very customer focused and entails checking permits, handling camping issues out in the field and joint working with the police.


Slipway Front Of House – Based at Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway, Balloch, this position is a front of house role primarily focused around the management of the site and facilitating the launching of our 5,000 registered boat users. Ensuring safety on the site, byelaws are adhered to alongside using a boat registration database.


Visitor Centre – Our visitor centre based in Balmaha is visited by up to 100,000 people a year. This role entails staffing the centre, providing excellent customer service to enhance our visitor’s experience of the park and interpreting the National Park to visitors.


Bank Staff – These casual contracts offer the most flexibility of all the roles as they benefit from being able to do a variety of the above duties around the park as and when we require. This flexible role can fit around your life or other work, and we aim to give between 2 and 4 weeks’ notice for upcoming shifts. Most of the work offered through this role does fall on weekends and there are various start locations available.


Salary: From £17,993 per annum pro rata (based on a 37hr week)


Working Hours: A variety of contracts from 0 hours up to 35 hours a week, working mainly weekends (8 contracts working every weekend) and a mixture of normal and late shifts


Location: Various start locations, Balloch, Balmaha, Callander, Lochearnhead
