18 Months Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity post

We protect and promote the human rights of people with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions.

As Project Manager (Engagement) you will support the Head of Project (DIDAHR) to progress two important projects.

The first project stems from a recent Scottish Government review recommending that a system be developed for investigating all deaths of patients who, at the time of death, were subject to an order under either the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 or part VI of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995 (whether in hospital or in the community, including those who had their detention suspended).

The second project is to progress work on developing a system of review when people who have been in touch with mental health services commit homicide.

You should have proven project management experience, good problems solving skills, a flexible approach and the ability to arrange and deliver consultation events within defined timescales.

You will have strong communication skills and proven experience in consulting and engaging a wide range of stakeholders including professionals and practitioners in the public sector. Key to this post is the ability to engage in a sensitive manner with bereaved families.

Experience of investigation processes in the public sector, approaches to developing and improving systems and knowledge of mental health services or legislation is highly desirable.

The post will be for 18 months, with the possibility of extension.

For more information on applying, please phone 0131 313 8783/8772.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon, 28th November 2019 interviews on Friday 13th December 2019. Interviews will take place in Edinburgh.
