Background

PKAVS is a large local charity supporting the wellbeing of people throughout Perth and Kinross at their times of greatest need. Through our staff of over 80 and the help of more than 120 volunteers, we support young and adult unpaid carers, those recovering from mental ill-health, minority communities, older people, Perth and Kinross’ Third Sector, and local volunteers.

Partnership and Engagement provides the Third Sector Interface (TSI) function for Perth and Kinross; enabling, empowering, and collaborating with third sector organisations across the area to achieve profound impact and timely responses to local challenges and priorities. Providing capacity building support, strengthening partnership working and facilitating an effective and robust third sector contribution to strategic discussions at both local Perth and Kinross Community Planning Partnership level and national level. The Partnership and Engagement team provide a free suite of support for community groups, voluntary organisations, charities, and social enterprises alike. Underpinned by an assets-based approach and a commitment to community empowerment and democratic renewal, the TSI supports individuals and communities to act on their priorities and generate new ideas for positive change to flourish.

Role

The Empowering Communities Development Officer (Capacity Building) supports the development and sustainability of the Third Sector in Perth and Kinross by providing tailored one-to-one organisational development support and group information/training sessions to Third Sector Organisations on topics such as (but not limited to): setting up third sector groups/organisations, accessing funding, governance, sustainability, partnerships, compliance and dissolution.

Beyond support for groups and organisations, the Empowering Communities Development Officer (Capacity Building) also proactively works across the third sector and with Community Planning Partners to facilitate a third sector contribution to local decision making.
