Applications are invited from candidates interested in the role of the Head of Strategy, Governance and Performance within Public Health Scotland.

Public Health Scotland is a new organisation between the Scottish Government and Local Government, working in partnership, to provide leadership to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.

Public Health Scotland will launch 1st April 2020 with the formal status of a National Special Health Board employing around 1100 people, and with an annual budget of around £60 million, Public Health Scotland will provide authoritative information and services to support people and communities across Scotland. It will lead the national response to unforeseen health emergencies and will contribute to national and local government policy through its provision of robust data and intelligence.

In this diverse and exciting role you will be part of the leadership team focused on protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of our people. You will lead a group of approximately 190 staff that provides services including Finance, Strategic Planning, Performance and Strategy.

The post will lead and drive improved performance and compliance across Public Health Scotland ensuring effective Governance is in place and will be the lead officer in advising the Chief Executive on ensuring effective and transparent governance of the organisation.

You will be required to manage the commissioned finance service and act as the senior responsible officer in respect of Finance. In this respect a Finance related qualification or a qualification which contains a high degree of Finance is essential. Additionally you will have experience of operating at a leadership level in a diverse and complex organisation and have evidence of a significant understanding of the strategic planning agendas across NHSScotland and the wider public sector.

Educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline, with post-graduate qualification or equivalent would be desirable.
