Temporary/Secondment for 9 months

The role

We have a temporary post/secondment opportunity for an Adviser to work within our Learning and Development team for 9 months. As a Learning and Development Adviser you are likely to be asked to undertake a diverse range of duties. This adds to the challenge of the role but also makes the job interesting and varied. We are looking for an exceptional individual who thrives on challenge and versatile enough to be able to adapt their working style to accommodate the need to change direction and move into a wide range of work areas, swiftly but effectively.

What you’ll need to succeed

The job sits within the qualification and standards section and will require the post holder to lead on specified activities related to UK and non-UK qualifications and standards work. A clear understanding of occupational standards and qualification frameworks is necessary for this. We are particularly interested to hear from applicants with a background in children’s services to support this policy area of our work. More information can be found in the job description and person specification.

Who we are

The SSSC is the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce. We protect the public by registering social service workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct we can investigate and take action. There are over 200,000 people employed in social services in Scotland. Over 100,000 of these people are registered with the SSSC.

Why work for us

The successful candidate will have access to a full range of benefits including up to 43 days holiday (service dependent), pension and opportunities for flexible working.

You’ll find more information in the job description and person specification.

Living in Dundee

Scotland’s sunniest city, Dundee is the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design and made Lonely Planet’s top 10 European hotspots in 2018 for its growing cultural scene and the transformation of the city’s historic waterfront. Dundee also made the National Geographic 2019 ‘must see cool list’.

Our office is in Dundee, but during the COVID-19 pandemic this role is home based until there is no longer a requirement to physically distance. We actively encourage remote working and would support a less office-based format even after restrictions are lifted. We are developing our home working policy and we are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider full home working as an option depending on job requirements and meeting the eligibility criteria as determined by the new policy.

Our offices are next door to the new V&A Dundee and Captain Scott’s famous ship, RRS Discovery, built here in 1900. The city is a great shopping destination, surrounded by many eateries and bars. It is also rich in scenery with lovely beaches and parks.

We believe that the SSSC and Dundee offer a great place to begin or expand your career.
