Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social work, social care and early years services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

We protect the public by registering social work, social care and early years workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action.

About the role

As part of the Performance and Improvement department, you will help to deliver change and improvement activities across the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). You will support the Change and Improvement Coordinator by:

  • highlighting problems and inefficiencies in processes, and assisting in identifying improvements and more efficient ways of working
  • assisting with process mapping and performance reporting
  • collating performance information
  • drafting surveys and forms using specialised software packages
  • proofreading documents and check the accuracy of data
  • inputting data and information into systems and spread sheets.

What you need to succeed

The ideal candidate would have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

  • educated to Standard Grade level or equivalent
  • work effectively as part of a team
  • work to deadlines
  • flexibility to adapt to new initiatives or change
  • thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • ability to work on your own initiative and with minimal supervision
  • be a strong communicator.

Why work for us

We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service). Please note new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range.

You can find out more about the benefits of working here on our website.

Our office is in Dundee but this role is home based at the moment as we develop our agile working policy. We encourage remote working and support a less office-based format. We are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option, depending on job requirements (such as being in the office for training events and meetings etc) and meeting the eligibility criteria determined by the new policy.
