About the role

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity to join the SSSC Programme Management Office as a PMO Manager supporting the SSSC’s change projects across its three Directorates, bringing together productivity & efficiency, quality improvement and cost improvement projects aligned to the SSSC’s strategic aims and operational priorities into a cohesive and connected change programme.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Programme; leading the PMO governance and assurance framework and providing support to the three Directorates and corporate teams to identify, design and deliver projects within the Programme.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in a programme management position, preferably in the public sector.
  • Experience of implementing and managing processes and controls for tracking, quality assurance and governance of projects and programmes, supporting and developing colleagues, with excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills to support this.
  • Experience of monitoring programmes and budgets as well as being able to demonstrate a successful track-record of collaborative working but also scrutinising and challenging delivery project plans and monthly reports to understand the cause of delays and issues facing projects.
  • A flexible, driven and engaging team player who will provide PMO governance and programme management expertise to help deliver the SSSC’s aspirations.
  • Operating effectively across departments and liaising with colleagues at all levels of the organisation roles, you will be a key and valued part of our team in delivering change and improvement.

Who we are

We are the independent regulator for social service workers in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on social services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce.

We protect the public by registering social service workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct we can investigate and take action.

Why work for us

We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With just under 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, the latest IT equipment, and a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme, and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service).

Our office is in Dundee, but during COVID-19 this role is home based until there is no longer a requirement to physically distance. We actively encourage remote working and would support a less office-based format even after restrictions are lifted. We are developing our agile working policy and we are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working as an option depending on job requirements and meeting the eligibility criteria as determined by the new policy. We welcome applications from candidates outside Dundee and the surrounding areas.

Living in Dundee

Scotland’s sunniest city, Dundee is the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design and made Lonely Planet’s top 10 European hotspots in 2018 for its growing cultural scene and the transformation of the city’s historic waterfront. Dundee also made the National Geographic 2019 ‘must see cool list’.

Our offices are on the banks of the River Tay, right at the heart of the redesigned waterfront, close to the railway station and bus link, and on the Green Circular cycle path, which goes right around the city.

We are next door to the new V&A Dundee and Captain Scott’s famous ship, RRS Discovery, built here in 1900. The city is a great shopping destination, surrounded by many eateries and bars. It is also rich in scenery with lovely beaches and parks.

We believe that the SSSC and Dundee offer a great place to develop your career.
