Head of Care

St Mary's Kenmure, SMK Care Services and Stepdown are embarking on a new and exciting partnership, we are looking for a Head of Care who will over see the management of all three services whilst working closely with the Head of Service and the Senior Management Teams.

St Mary’s Kenmure is a secure facility that offers a controlled, safe and secure environment for the care and education of young people who are referred from the Courts and Children’s Hearings. Young people from all over Scotland and England come to St Mary’s. We care for 24 young people, in four house units each housing 6 young people.

Each young person is entitled to and will receive a high standard of care from a team of experienced and qualified staff who strive to meet their needs and ensure their health and safety. We also offer a wide range of academic and vocational subjects to allow our young people to learn and develop during their stay, along with a variety of recreational facilities including a seven aside football pitch, gymnasium, fitness suite and a swimming pool.

Stepdown is a young and progressive charity established to provide care and support services for children, young people and families.

Young people can live with Stepdown and receive intensive support in small Stepdown Cottages or within the family homes of Stepdown Carers. To prevent breakdown, Stepdown will work with families wherever they live and will support young people to live in the family home or independently in their own flats.

For the role of Head of Care, we are looking for a dynamic, inspiring individual to join our team. You must have a range of both Professional and Personal qualities. You must be self-motivated, work well in a team, with an ability to work independently. Being open minded and having the ability to listen and be sympathetic is crucial to this role. The Head of Care will play a pivotal role in the development of the services across St Marys, SMK Cares Services and Stepdown and will support the strategic development of the services under their remit. The successful candidate will have significant managerial and operational experience of secure care, residential care, fostering and community support, extensive Budget Management and a minimum of three years experience in a leadership role. They must be SSSC registered, with a degree in Social Work or relevant Social Work Qualification along with a Management Qualification at SCQF Level 9

The salary for this post is £68,000 to £75,000 inclusive of on call allowances, based on 37 hours per week.
