Active Travel Senior Project Officer

Base: Fife Council offices, Glenrothes (up to 4 days per week), with working from home a proportion of the time.


About the role

As the Sustrans Senior Project Officer, you will build and manage internal and external relationships, including with key people within Fife Council and other organisations working in the active travel sector, in the development of a transformative active travel strategy.

Your day-to-day duties will be advised by the Local Authority, with line management provided for you by the Partnerships Manager at Sustrans Scotland.

You will provide support in the development of the Active Travel Strategy; working across council departments and in partnership with external organisations, to consolidate cooperation amongst participants and delivery partners, to identify, develop and prioritise opportunities for investment in active travel in Fife.

You may also assist with the development and delivery of Fife Council active travel projects.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects for Fife Council on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within commutable distance to Glenrothes and be able to travel to Edinburgh on occasion.


About you

You should have experience of and be able to build relationships with ease. You will proactively engage with affiliated agencies and local authorities, to develop and promote the Active Travel Strategy.

To be effective in this role, you should have knowledge of transport policy and strategy, active travel development, Urban Development or sustainable transport. It would be advantageous if you have a knowledge of how local authorities / public sector organisations work.

In this dynamic role, you will have the ability to juggle multiple projects and work with efficiency and flexibility.

You should be an excellent communicator to facilitate writing bids and applications for funding opportunities.
