Aberdeenshire Council is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.

The council's responsibility, as a public body, is to promote and encourage equal opportunities in addition to tackling unlawful discrimination. Equality and fairness are central to the way we conduct business

Our aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.

We have equalities ambassadors across the organisation, who are the first point of contact for any queries or concerns about equality and diversity in their service.

The Council works to improve access to services and opportunities for employees and residents by promoting equality in service delivery and employment.

Reviews are undertaken to monitor if staff are treated fairly and in accordance with their individual requirements by workforce equality monitoring and action planning.

We continue to build on training and guidance available for managers and employees - to help ensure there is an understanding of the importance of equalities, diversity and inclusion and how this should be considered across the activities we undertake.

Reasonable Adjustments

Where appropriate, we will consider all requests for reasonable adjustments that are made during the recruitment process (and in employment) and will discuss this with you.

Guaranteed Interview

Candidates who have a disability or long-term health condition have the option to request a Guaranteed Interview when applying for a vacancy.  This will be honoured where the candidate meets the essential criteria stated on the job profile of the role.

NB In certain recruitment situations such as high volume applications it may be necessary to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both those who have requested a Guaranteed Interview and those who have not.  This will be applied equitably.

Equalities Monitoring Form

To ensure we are providing equality of opportunity we ask all applicants to complete an Equalities Monitoring form, this is included in our application pack.
