We’re looking for a Member Support/Committee Assistant to join our friendly team and contribute to the council’s Member Services and Committee Support operations.
Our team provides administrative support to Argyll and Bute’s 36 elected councillors. It’s a busy and varied workload and no two days are the same. We assist our councillors with a range of support needs from booking meeting rooms, travel and accommodation to helping with correspondence and caseload management. We liaise with several different council departments, as well as organisations outside the council, to help provide the best service we can to our elected members. We’re part of the wider Governance team, which oversees the council’s committee system and its smooth operation.
This is a great opportunity to experience work in local government and find out more about all aspects of how councils work.
We’re looking for someone who is great at building relationships by phone and in person, customer-focused, highly organised and with excellent IT skills – we use Microsoft Office and a range of other computer systems on a daily basis. You’ll enjoy working on a range of different tasks and getting to grips with new systems, and be comfortable working in an environment that can, at times, be busy and fast-paced but always supportive. Our team works remotely with some time in the office at the council’s Kilmory headquarters, depending on service requirements at the time.
