We are looking for a dynamic, confident Senior Manager who will provide leadership, vision and strategic direction to deliver the best possible outcomes for our communities. We are looking for an inspiring, encouraging, supporting and empowering individual who will lead their team to deliver the Council’s priorities and objectives while ensuring continuous improvement across their areas of responsibility.

As an experienced leader, you will demonstrate a commitment to transformative change and an ability to turn vision into results. We’re looking for someone who brings a positive approach, who doesn’t shy away from open and honest conversations in order to secure the best possible outcomes.

The role is diverse and leads one of the largest departments delivering quality facility management (Catering & Cleaning), Commercial Events and Food related activity. This is an award winning team and there is opportunity to innovate and grow with an ambitious and learning Council. As a Senior Manager, you will be part of the Commercial Services Management Team and Senior Officers Group of the Council and interact with Councillors and Executive Leadership Team.

Argyll and Bute Council is Scotland’s second largest local authority by area. The council serves 23 inhabited islands and is home to some of the most breath-taking scenery Scotland has to offer. Our unique demographics mean that every day, our teams are finding creative ways to overcome the challenges associated with delivering services to widely dispersed communities in remote and rural locations.

This post is classed as remote which means that the post holder can do the majority of their activities from any location. The successful candidate will be allocated an administrative base within Argyll and Bute and will have the option of working from the office and/or remotely in line with their personal preference.

Please note that it is likely interviews will take place on 9 October 2023 and psychometric testing will be included as part of the interview process.  The intention is to launch tests on Tuesday 3 October 2023 with a 48 hour turnaround required of candidates, followed up by validation calls on 6 October 2023.  This part of the selection process is being supported by Solace in Business.
