Salary: £24,890 - £28,854 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Monday – Thursday 08:15 – 15:45, Friday 08:15 – 12:30

We are looking for a committed, passionate and inspiring member to join our team as a Pupil Support Officer (PSO). Are you kind, patient, caring and passionate about making a positive difference? Are you skilled in helping support children and young people disengaged from learning or who are experiencing difficulties in their lives? Do children and young people respond well to your support?
Your role will be crucial in helping to address the poverty related attainment gap.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to work as part of the Bruntsfield team. The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with children and young people with social and emotional needs. They need to be creative, well organised, effective communicators who are passionate about supporting children and young people with support needs.
Experienced PSAs or those who can demonstrate their experience working with children and their families are encouraged to apply. This role will involve supporting children with attendance, working with groupsor individuals to improve literacy, numeracy and social skills as well as building trusting relationships with children and their families which may involve support within family homes.
It would be desirable for candidates to have experience in the following areas:
- Trained in providing nurturing approaches to lead groups and tracking impact
- Tracking attendance and attainment
- Raising attainment by supporting learners through targeted interventions and strategies
- Able to support emotional and behavioural needs as well as general Health and Wellbeing through a variety of approaches such as ASD training, Lego Therapy etc
- Training in using the Boxall profile
Training opportunities will be provided once the successful candidate is in post.
The Pupil Support Officer - Family Liaison and nurturing strategies will play a key role in supporting the assessment, planning and direct support of children, young people and their families in relation to relationships and emotional health and wellbeing.
The post holder will respond and be led by the needs of Bruntsfield families and the learners. Building relationships and trust means the worker can provide advice, signpost other resources and offer both nurture and emotional support.
