Job Description

Place

Transport Officer
Waverley Court

Salary: £34,057-£40,275
Hours: 36 per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Officer within the Strategic Transport Planning and Projects Development Team to assist in the configuration, development and implementation of flagship strategic transport schemes and placemaking projects on behalf of the Council.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but highly rewarding role. The role will be responsible for helping deliver public realm and transport projects as detailed in our City Centre Transformation Strategy and City Mobility Plan, therefore experience of project management is essential. The role will also help to develop transport strategy, policies and plans, therefore the candidate must have experience in Transport Planning. A knowledge developing Business Cases in-line with UK treasury Greenbook and Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) is desirable.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or have experience of managing and delivering significantly complex projects in a challenging environment, preferably within a transport or infrastructure setting. It is also highly desirable that the applicant holds a formal project management qualification (eg Prince 2).

The candidate will be part of a team delivering public realm projects such as Lothian Road, Old Town Streets, St Andrews Square and Charlotte Square, from concept to construction. The projects will follow the RIBA plan of work stages.

It is also essential the post holder has strong communication skills and the ability to build key relationships, including those at senior management and Elected Member level. Essential Partnership working is critical to the role.

Further information on the minimum job requirements is provided in the attached Job Description and Person Specification.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
