An exciting new opportunity has arisen in the Education Staffing Team at East Lothian Council, offering a varied and interesting role, supporting Head Teachers and Education managers in the co-ordination of service recruitment, the planning and delivery of effective workforce solutions, the monitoring of disciplinary and grievance processes, including undertaking investigations and in the provision of advice, support and guidance in these areas of work, along with gathering and reporting on relevant statistics and data.
The successful applicant will be joining an established team providing support and advice to Education and school based managers on a wide range of staffing and workforce planning matters and you will be offered support in developing your knowledge of the service and relevant training will be available in the local Policies and Procedures adhered to as part of the work of the team.
You will be an experienced manager or leader in an HR or business related capacity, with experience in Education recruitment, workforce planning and staff related support. Ideally you will be familiar with legislation regarding recruitment, disciplinary and grievance and Teacher and Local Government Employee Terms and Conditions of employment. Most importantly you will have the ability to work across a varied and at times, complex range of work areas and be a knowledgeable and trusted voice in offering advice and guidance to the staff and managers supported by the service. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with various stakeholders and the confidence to work independently in finding solutions to complex matters, delivering outcomes and meeting set deadlines.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Educated to a minimum HND/SVQ4 or preferably degree level, ideally in an HR or Business related discipline and/or have extensive and in-depth knowledge and understanding of working with or leading a wide range of staffing related issues, including complex disciplinary and grievance cases, recruitment and selection, workforce planning and project management.
