Job Vacancy
The post holder will be involved in the creation, design and delivery of numeracy programmes including maths and business qualifications.
You will joint lead on the co-ordination of SQA work with all 6 Secondary Schools
You will have a minimum of a National 5 maths qualification.
You will be expected to design community-based numeracy programmes to improve learner’s use of numbers and will support them to gain SQA numeracy qualifications from SQA level 1-4.
You will create and adapt materials for these programmes in line with the needs of the learners.
You will deliver multiple numeracy classes each week with young people through group and one to one sessions. On some occasions this may be doen online and through Google classrooms.
You will be able to evaluate programmes effectively to ensure a high standard of delivery.
Experience of assessment or verification would be beneficial but is not essential. Training and the opportunity for upskilling in this area will be provided.
It is essential that the post holder have extensive experience of delivering communities and lifelong learning programmes and projects including delivery of accredited opportunities. It is desirable that they have supervised either volunteers or sessional staff.
It is essential that the post holder have one or more qualification at SCQF Level 8 (or higher) or equivalent work experience/qualifications in Community Education, Teaching, Employability or Social Policy or equivalent.
It is essential that the post holder have experience of planning community learning and development interventions, programmes and projects.
It is desirable that they hold verifier and assessor qualifications acceptable to SQA or other accreditation bodies.
It is desirable that they have experience of supporting internal or external working groups to lead on key communities and lifelong learning themes

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on you working 26 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £23,702.83 per annum.
