Role Purpose

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated social workers to join our newly established Children Affected by Disability (CHAD) team. We have hours available in our Galashiels office and our Duns office. The prime task of the post holder will be to effectively and efficiently provide a high quality service to children and families. The main focus of allocations to this post holder's duties will be working with Children Affected by Disability or life limiting illness and their families.

We are looking for applicants with a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills who have a wide range of knowledge and understanding of supporting children and families in complex situations. Some knowledge of working with children affected by disability would be advantageous but not essential. It is essential that you have knowledge of Children and Families social work legislation, roles and responsibilities. In Scottish Borders we promote an open and trusting culture at all levels of the organisation with an supportive and accessible management team.

We prioritise staff wellbeing with regular supervision, manageable work loads and understanding the importance of a healthy work life balance. We also offer excellent continuous professional development and learning opportunities.

Essential

Professional Social Work Qualification.

Registration as a social worker with the SSSC.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
* If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
