An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Blackburn Primary School.
Blackburn Primary is a non-denominational school, serving part of the community of Blackburn in West Lothian. The school is situated in an area of multiple deprivations and is in SIMD decileband1. The school roll is 92, across five mainstream classes and two classes for children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The staff consists of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and Principal Teacher who have responsibility for the autism resource, the mainstream school and 10 class Teachers. There are three Pupil Support Workers who support learners across the mainstream classes and 4 Advanced Pupil Support Workers who support the children in the resource classes.

The successful post holder will provide support for teachers and children to enhance experiences and achievement within the Autism Resource Base. They will undertake a rang eof support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas:
Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS)
Transitions within the school and the local community
Support Behaviour
Relationships with peers
Progress in learning and attainment
Relationships with staff
Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team. The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Blackburn Primary School to ensure a high quality student experience and provide a differentiated curriculum for children in the Autism Resource.
These positions require registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
