Human Resources Salary: £45,585 - £56,021 per annum Start Date: As soon as possible

Applications are invited for an experienced professional to join the University as our Recruitment Manager.

Having embarked on an HR enhancement program of change, coupled with a recently refreshed five-year People Strategy (2023-2027), this is an exciting time to become part of the HR team. We are currently reviewing our systems and practices and you will have the opportunity to influence and shape our recruitment strategy and service. We are looking for an experienced recruitment specialist to lead our dedicated Recruitment Team, transforming the service from an administrative function to a proactive and modern service which supports the changing needs and expectations of the University and applicants. The Recruitment Manager is a new role, created to support the delivery of a modern HR service, and the People Strategy’s priority, ‘Attracting our People’.

You will be responsible for developing the service to ensure that the best candidates are recruited, using the most appropriate recruitment methods and practices, responding to market pressures and trends, and promoting our benefits to attract suitably skilled applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. As the Recruitment Manager, you will be responsible for developing our recruitment strategy and the recruitment service to meet both internal and external demands.

If you are an experienced Recruitment Manager, having operated at a management level, are up to date on market leading recruitment practices, have experience of providing specialist recruitment advice, using management information to deliver results, with excellent communication and people skills and a commitment to continuous improvement, this may be the role for you.

Employees of the University have access to a wide range of staff benefits including:

  • Annual leave of 34 days, plus 5 public holidays
  • Financial contribution to relocation
  • Membership of the USS Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions
  • A hybrid working environment, including partial homeworking where appropriate and a range of family friendly policies
  • Staff discount scheme for local and national goods and services
  • Free staff parking, employee Carshare and Cycle to Work Schemes and subsidised local bus travel
  • Subsidised sports membership, reduced tuition fees on degree programmes for staff/children of staff, access to library facilities, salary sacrifice scheme and a range of wellbeing initiatives

Further information and informal enquiries may be directed to Mairi Stewart, Director of Human Resources, email: hrdirector@st-andrews.ac.uk, Tel: 01334 462556.

Applications are particularly welcome from people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in professional posts at the University.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the St Andrews experience and form a central pillar of the University Strategy. We strive to create a fair and inclusive culture demonstrated through our commitment to diversity awards (Athena Swan, Carer Positive, LGBT Charter and Race Charters). We celebrate diversity by promoting profiles of BAME, LGBTIQ+ staff and supporting networks including the Staff BAME Network; Staff with Disabilities Network; Staff LGBTIQ+ Network; and the Staff Parents & Carers Network.
