The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of People Services Administrator, based in SFRS HQ Cambuslang on a temporary basis for a period of 6 months. These are full-time opportunities, working 35 hours per week. There is opportunities to work across 2 different areas within the directorate and they are within People Admin and People Resourcing Admin.

These are full-time posts however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

The successful candidates will be required to work as part of a dedicated team within the People Directorate supporting the development and delivery of SFRS People Services activities via the provision of an efficient, accurate and prompt end to end resourcing administration service. You will administer and process vacancies, promotional campaigns and other selection processes, within the Services’ electronic recruitment portal and supporting systems/trackers. You will be required to process administrative tasks as required to support; vacancy creation, application shortlisting, psychometric or practical selection testing and interview scheduling, ensuring that timely candidate status communications are issued and recorded at each stage of the process. You will maintain, administer and update SFRS systems (e.g. HR/Payroll system and the Services electronic resourcing system) ensuring data is accurate and follows standard SFRS guidelines enabling effective statistical reporting against performance indicators and for governance purposes and responses to FOI requests.

You will provide effective administrative support in the delivery of a range of People transactional services, supporting a best value approach, e.g. administration of processes and correspondence related to Discipline & Grievance, Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Arrangements, Contract Variations, Career Breaks, Flexible Working, Resignations and Retirements, liaising with relevant stakeholders as appropriate.

Previous experience of working within a busy administrative environment is essential, the successful candidate must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and confidently, displaying exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly and accurately to meet deadlines and timescales. The ability to use initiative when dealing with issues and offering solutions. The applicant must have previous experience of handling personal and confidential data and an understanding of Data Protection Legislation. A working knowledge and experience of IT packages e.g. Office 365 is required.

The standard working week for support staff posts is 35 hours, Monday – Friday, applicants will be required to attend the office one day per week on a hybrid working pattern.
