The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £18.03 - £20.18

We are recruiting an experienced youth worker for a 25 hour post across Preston, Seton and Gosford.  The youth worker will work in collaboration with schools, social work, external agencies to support young people 1 to 1 and in a group setting to reach objectives which have been set with young people.  These objective will focus around 4 areas; engagement, wellbeing, transition and prevention.  The youth worker may also feed into evening youth work provision in centres, so will require to be flexible.  We are looking for a passionate youth worker, who has a track record of engaging young people who would not normally engage in youth work provision.

Job Details

Make contact and develop constructive relationships with young people with a view to encouraging them to participate actively in a range of activities in a club or group setting.

Identify young peoples needs and to offer appropriate advice or action.

Contact the hardest to reach young people within their own environment who don't use existing services with the potential to recruit for specific projects or groups.

Better targeting of services and initiatives to those most in need, to increase formal opportunities for learning and building confidence with hard to reach young people.

Address issues of risky behaviour and management with young people and support young people at risk. Support young people to address issues highlighted by them and develop ideas for social action.

Relevant Qualifications
A good standard of general education and able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience in a similar role.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
