Who we are

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

What you’ll do

As a Dementia Advisor, you will provide information, advice and person-centred support to people living with dementia, those experiencing memory concerns, and their families and carers across South Ayrshire.

You will help people navigate health and social care services, understand their rights, access appropriate support and maintain their independence, choice and control.

You will deliver tailored one-to-one support, facilitate opportunities for peer support, and connection, deliver group education programmes and develop initiatives that promote brain health, wellbeing and positive attitudes towards dementia.

You will build on established relationships with health and social care professionals, community organisations and local partners to improve access to support, raise awareness and help communities become more inclusive and dementia friendly. You will also contribute to service planning, partnership working, community engagement and contract monitoring, ensuring the service responds to local needs and delivers positive outcomes for people affected by dementia.

What you’ll have

You will have a positive approach to dementia and brain health, a passion for making a difference, and a commitment to ensuring people living with dementia and their families and carers receive the right support at the right time.

You will bring excellent communication and IT skills, a compassionate and person-centred approach, and the ability to provide information, advice and practical and emotional support tailored to individual needs. You will be confident in building trusted relationships, working collaboratively with health and social care professionals and community partners, and developing opportunities that promote social connection, independence and wellbeing.

You will be organised and proactive, with the ability to plan and deliver meaningful activities, support volunteers and contribute to the effective delivery and monitoring of services. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and maintaining accurate records, while also being a supportive and collaborative member of the wider team.
