Providing over 16,000 hours of support a week, we currently support over 400 people across Scotland in 12 Local Authority areas.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Ark as Care & Support Practice Development Manager. This new post is a critical for Ark as we move into a new phase of organisational development and implement our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Care & Support, the Care & Support Practice Development Manager will establish, develop and lead a Practice Development team. The team will initially focus on the development and implementation of Ark’s PBS strategy, supporting front line managers to become Practice Leaders and building knowledge, capacity, and resilience within Care & Support teams.

Longer term, the Practice Development team will also support the development of staff practice across a range of areas of practice and the development of competency frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience of successfully working with people with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours of concern.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • A commitment to upholding Peoples’ Human Rights and a values based approach to providing support
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering PBS effectively, impacting positively on peoples’ quality of life and staff practice.
  • An understanding of Practice Development and Practice Leadership.
  • The ability to oversee the development and governance of organisational strategy and embed approaches, translating theory and evidence into Policy, Procedure and Practice.
  • A recognised health or social care qualification and/or a recognised PBS qualification or the willingness to undertake relevant professional development.
