Edinburgh Supported Living Service – St Leonard's (Pleasance)

SPONSORSHIP IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AT BLACKWOOD

£12.00 per hour (£12.40 per hour if SVQ qualified)

We are currently looking for a keen and enthusiastic female to join our team of support workers in Edinburgh's southside. It would be desirable for the successful candidate to be willing to drive to and from different locations using our client’s own vehicle, and therefore a confident driver in possession of a clean UK driving licence, but this is not essential. Our client particularly enjoys physical activity; therefore we are looking for someone who is energetic and enjoys walking and hiking.

As an award-winning innovative care provider, we support people living with physical disabilities and long-term conditions and are committed to helping our customers live their life to the full. We have been exceptionally proud of our care teams during the pandemic and this is your opportunity to be part of a team that works hard to deliver positive outcomes for customers.

Our service based in the St Leonard's area of Edinburgh, supports customers within the shared service team. Your day will involve delivering a wide variety of assistance such as personal care & hygiene, moving and handling, social support, housework, cleaning/laundry, meal preparation, medication assistance, going to appointments and being responsive to both planned and ad-hoc customer care needs.

As a Support Worker and to enable our customers to live comfortably, safely and independently, you will work closely with our managers and teams and support our customers with some of the following examples of personal care services:

Personal hygiene (bathing, showering, shaving, oral hygiene)

Continence management (toileting, catheter care)

Food and diet (assisting with eating and preparation)

Simple treatments (medication assistance application of creams)

Personal assistance (with wheelchairs, mechanical/manual aids and help with dressing & getting in/out of bed)

Immobility problems

Don’t worry about having any previous care experience, we provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to help you become a great carer although previous experience is desirable.

The ideal candidate must have:

A commitment to delivering high quality care

Strong communication and interpersonal skills as our carers might be the only contact our customers have each day

Basic IT skills, ability to use apps and devices to support service provision

An ability to work independently in the community and as part of a team

A relevant qualification (SVQ2), this is not essential as training will be given

A full UK, Manual Driving Licence (preferred but not essential)

Our employee benefits

Fully funded SVQ training on completion of probationary period

Company sick pay scheme on completion of probationary period

34 days’ holiday per annum, pro rata for part-time hours

Company mobile phone

Access to Health and Wellbeing resources such as, 24 hour GP service, physiotherapy, 24/7 Employee Assistance Program and in-house Mental Health First Aiders

Opportunity to participate in internal support networks such as employee engagement, wellbeing and digital forums

Company pension scheme and other benefits such as Death in Service

Payment of PVG and SSSC registration

* Please note for this role, and for genuine occupational requirement reasons, we are looking to appoint a Female Support Worker (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).

We ask that all applicants read the Job Pack for further details of the available opportunity. Blackwood are committed to diversity and inclusion and as a Disability Confident Employer, we will interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the post.

Note to international applicants

We are unable to sponsor candidates at this time.
