Job Description
Job Title: Personal Assistant
Place of Work: Based in employers’ home and community
Hours: 13 hours per week (Monday to Thursday)
Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour
Personal assistant required for a 22-year-old man who has autism and lives with his family in the Dundee area. He has a great sense of humour and enjoys walking, going to the gym, cinema, bowling, and anime. Although he can communicate his needs, he can at times become anxious and upset if he is confused and not understanding the situation. He does not cope with loud noises and will plug himself into his music when using public transport or visiting places that can be noisy. He can find being around children triggering as children are unpredictable and can scream or cry, this can make him very anxious.
He loves gaming and has a YouTube channel where he posts videos he has made. He spends a lot of time in his bedroom so the person supporting him should be creative and empower him to explore and try new activities.
Main Duties:
Support to participating in activities he enjoys at home and in the community.
He has no personal care but may need some assistance preparing food.
Essential Characteristics:
Honest, reliable and trustworthy, friendly, caring, sensitive/calm and most importantly a good sense of humor.
Some experience and an understanding of Autism.
PVG membership.
A like of anime would be an added bonus.

As an organisation we are not the employer but assist people to look for staff if they need them. If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the direct payment and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the Self-directed Support Service.
