Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?

Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!

Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.

Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.

The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me

The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with Enable is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.

Let us introduce you to four ladies who live together:

Sarah is a social butterfly who loves company. Sarah attends a day centre one day a week but on the other days she enjoys pamper sessions, watching movies, spending time with her housemates, and on a Sunday, a family day. A typical day could be going to the shops to ensure Sarah has all the essentials she needs, or even just to have a wander around the local community. Sarah loves to spend time being driven around in her mobility car. Sarah receives full 24hour support, so sleepovers may be required.

Louise is full of fun and loves music, from all eras. Louise enjoys the cinema, clothes shopping and going out for meals. A typical day for Louise would be having a pamper before heading to the local shops or wider area, maybe being driven in her car to Braehead to browse the clothes and CD's. Louise enjoys game shows and being involved with her housemates. Louise' bestie is her mum and they have a very close relationship which means the world to Louise.

June loves sensory experiences and time to relax, and reflect. June has one day a week at the day centre and spends Sunday with her family. A typical day with June could be supporting June to appointments or for essential shopping travelling in her own mobility car, and in dry weather being taken around the local community. June loves nothing more than a pamper, a hand massage, listening to staff reading or watching dancing on ice.

Tabitha enjoys her own company and watching boxsets on her TV. Tabitha has one day week at her day centre and the remainder of the week is spent at home with her housemates and staff. A typical day for Tabitha could be going for a long drive in her mobility car, stopping at the seafront for a bit of calm. Tabitha loves birds and being out in nature, taking in her surroundings as a calming sensory aid, Tabitha is a member of the RSPB.

Sadly, it’s not always possible for these ladies to enjoy what many people would consider these ‘simple pleasures’ without proper, dedicated support. The housemates receive full 24hours support, so sleepovers may be required.

That is why these ladies need you! Will you bring your best so that they can live their best life?
