Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!

Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.

Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.

The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. This post is for an overnight responder service. The shifts are between 22:00-08:00 three shifts per week with the rota given 6 weeks in advance. You would have a base location supporting 7 individuals around the base area. The support you provide can include supporting individuals with personal care, accidents, and illness. Through shadow shifts you would get to know all the individuals we support.

Here is a bit about some of the individuals we support :

Andy is an older gentleman who loves doing jigsaws and listening to music. He dresses smart and can often be seen wearing a bow tie!

Edna is a lovely lady who enjoys watching TV soaps, especially river city. She will keep you up to date on the gossip happening in every episode!

Cindy enjoys working on her computer most of the time, whether it be trying a new open university course or typing up reports!
