We are looking for a compassionate, committed, and motivated Care Assistant to join the dedicated team at our Speyside Care Home in Aberlour.

This is a permanent, part-time role working on a rotational basis that includes weekends.

As a Care Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the care, protection, and wellbeing, of all residents, by treating them with respect and dignity, assisting with their protection and promoting their independence.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Providing full personal care for residents, to include washing, dressing, bathing, nail foot and hair care.
  • Communicating effectively with residents, families , visitors and staff on all shifts, including night duty, to foster a happy working environment for staff and residents.
  • Observing monitoring and recording the condition of residents whilst delivering personal care. Undertaking agreed pressure area care where required.
  • Helping residents to keep mobile and contributing to moving and handling using the correct techniques.
  • Taking residents to the lavatory and assisting with promoting continence and managing incontinence.
  • Assisting residents to choose meals from the menu, including supporting residents to eat and drink, when necessary.
  • Monitoring and recording resident’s weight , food and fluid intake, and assisting with the malnutrition universal screening tool.
  • Supporting the Health and Safety of residents, self, other staff and visitors.
  • Supporting residents to access and participate in recreational activities and promoting hobbies and interests.
  • Supporting residents with activities and their social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and management of domestic and person resources.
  • Working with relatives and others to support them, when their loved ones have a life limiting illness. Assisting other staff and families, with palliative care and end of life care.
  • Accompanying residents to health centres and hospital appointments.
  • Acting as a key worker and taking a special interest in allocated residents.
  • Act as Infection Control Key Worker as required.
  • Contribute to the planning, monitoring and recording of service delivery.
  • Maintain and control stock, equipment and materials.
  • Working within the Parkland’s policies and procedures, relevant legislation and good practice guidance.
  • Be familiar with Violent Incident and Accident reporting procedures and comply with them.
  • Attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control and First Aid, as appropriate to the job.
  • Taking account of the Health and Social Care standards.
