The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre provides clinical review and diagnostic assessment such as EEG, ambulatory EEG and videotelemetry besides the ability to initiate or withdraw medications in a safe monitored environment. The centre also provides outpatient and telemedicine clinics. It is the only service of this nature in Scotland and provides specialist residential epilepsy assessment. Patients can be admitted to the unit for assessment periods of up to four weeks or longer if necessary. This includes patients with refractory epilepsy and those where diagnosis of epilepsy requires clarification.
