The Salvation Army in Edinburgh provides support for people who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple and complex needs. Our role is to provide a safe place to stay and access support. The service delivery model is rooted in the harm reduction approach, based on trauma informed practice, strength based and person-centred approaches.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Relief Night Welcome Worker (known internally within The Salvation Army as Night Concierge) to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The ability to form positive, supportive and motivating relationships.
  • To engage with residents in a positive, motivating attitude
  • Ensuring clients are signed in and out of service
  • Manage queries, phone calls and visitors to service
  • Record messages and update logs
  • Manage enquiries relating to available accommodation and facilitating access to emergency accommodation if required
  • Support resident induction and welcome to the service
  • Work with enthusiasm and compassion towards supporting homeless individuals to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of managing a busy front office environment including dealing with telephone and face to face enquiries
  • Excellent planning, organising and time management skills
  • Skills in IT use including Microsoft
  • Ability to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army with regard to delivering services to vulnerable people without discrimination
