We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Specialist Support Worker - (Homelessness and Complex Needs) to join Eva Burrows 1st Stop Project on a fixed-term basis. You will support people affected by homelessness, mental health needs, substance use, trauma or other complex circumstances to sustain accommodation, access services and move forward with dignity and independence.

Housing First is a new approach to supporting the most excluded and hard to reach rough sleepers. It focuses on finding permanent housing as quickly as possible and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual's homelessness. Rather than follow normal routes of emergency accommodation to supported and temporary accommodation, Housing First offers people their own home and then gives them the intensive support needed to maintain their tenancies and move on with their lives away from the streets.

This team supports our Intensive Support Service Users within their own home, working with a range of needs that would support them to continue to maintain their own tenancy and integrate back into their community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support people experiencing homelessness, rough sleeping or housing insecurity to make positive life choices and sustain accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload of individuals with complex needs, including mental health, substance use, trauma, offending histories and social isolation.
  • Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based support through assessment, risk management, support planning and accurate case recording.
  • Work collaboratively with housing, health, social care, mental health, substance use, criminal justice and community services.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative, sector-leading, and uniquely collaborative way of working with our partners. To succeed you will need to have the ability to work independently and be comfortable as a lone worker, when required, with a good knowledge of the relevant protocols and safety precautions. You'll be able to maintain enthusiasm for working with people with complex needs and provide the consistently high levels of support they require to meet their aims and objectives in a way that is flexible for everyone we support.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate and/ or hold:
  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a related field, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Experience supporting people affected by homelessness, rough sleeping, mental health needs, substance use, trauma, offending histories or other complex circumstances.
  • Knowledge of housing-related support, tenancy sustainment, benefits and the barriers faced by people experiencing multiple disadvantage.
  • Experience of multi-agency working with services such as housing, health and social care, mental health, substance use, police, probation or community partners.
  • Strong communication, record-keeping and independent working skills.
  • Full Driving Licence.

In the job profile you will find the criteria required for the role, please make sure that you address this in your supporting statement as this forms the basis of our shortlisting.

Appointment will be subject to;
