At Wheatley Care, we know that positive mental health starts with meaningful connections, opportunities and support.

We're looking for caring, compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to join our Community Mental Health Day Service as a Health & Wellbeing Assistant. Whether you're already working in social care, mental health services or looking for a rewarding new career, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives every day.

Our Community Mental Health Day Service provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can access support, build confidence, improve wellbeing and develop meaningful social connections. Through a range of therapeutic, recovery-focused and wellbeing activities, we support people to develop coping strategies, strengthen resilience and work towards achieving greater independence and improved quality of life.

Every day is different. You could be supporting someone to participate in a wellbeing group, helping facilitate a creative activity, encouraging confidence through social interaction, or assisting individuals to develop new skills and interests. You may support community-based opportunities, help individuals reconnect with hobbies and interests, or simply provide encouragement and reassurance to someone taking positive steps in their recovery journey.

Our focus is on creating opportunities for people to thrive. We believe everyone should have the chance to build confidence, develop relationships and participate fully in their community. As a Health & Wellbeing Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping people achieve these goals.

Why Join Our Community Mental Health Day Service?

Our service provides a supportive and welcoming space where people can focus on their recovery, wellbeing and personal development. We deliver meaningful activities and structured programmes that promote confidence, inclusion and independence.

You'll join a passionate and supportive team committed to helping people improve their mental health and wellbeing. New colleagues are welcomed, developed and given every opportunity to succeed, while contributing to a service where person-centred support and positive outcomes are at the heart of everything we do.

What makes this role special is the opportunity to build trusted relationships and help people achieve goals that matter to them. Whether that's increasing social confidence, developing coping strategies, reconnecting with their community or improving overall wellbeing, you'll be supporting people to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

What You'll Do

As a Health & Wellbeing Assistant, you'll:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with the people we support.
  • Assist with the planning, organisation and delivery of wellbeing-focused activities and group programmes.
  • Encourage participation and promote inclusion.
  • Support individuals to improve confidence, independence and social connections.
  • Promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Help individuals identify and work towards personal goals.
  • Create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver high-quality person-centred support.
  • Encourage community engagement and meaningful participation in activities and opportunities.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who are:

✅ Kind and compassionate
✅ Positive and enthusiastic
✅ Patient and respectful
✅ Reliable and committed
✅ Good communicators and active listeners
✅ Passionate about supporting people to improve their wellbeing and quality of life

Experience within mental health services, social care, wellbeing programmes, community support or group work is welcomed, but it isn't essential.

What matters most is your values, attitude and commitment to helping people build confidence, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Whether you're taking your first step into social care or looking to further develop your career, we'll invest in your learning and development through comprehensive training, qualifications and opportunities to progress within one of Scotland's leading care and support organisations.

What's In It for You?

At Wheatley Care, we invest in our people because great support starts with great teams.

You'll benefit from:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Competitive pension scheme
  • Comprehensive induction programme
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Career progression pathways
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • A supportive and inclusive working environment
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference every day

These benefits build on Wheatley Care's commitment to investing in staff through induction, training, development and career progression.

More Than a Job

The people who work in our services often talk about the relationships they build, the achievements they celebrate and the pride they feel when they see someone grow in confidence and take positive steps forward in their recovery journey.

If you're looking for a role where you'll finish each day knowing you've made a meaningful difference, we'd love to hear from you.
