Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives? Come and join Wheatley Care as a Health and Wellbeing Assistant.

We are a values-led social care organisation focused on delivering support that genuinely improves people’s lives. As a not-for-profit provider with over 40 years’ experience in the social care sector, we reinvest our resources where they matter most: the people and communities we serve. Our work is grounded in dignity, respect and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live well.

We are recognised for delivering reliable, person-led support across our communities. Our teams are trusted to provide safe, compassionate care that stands up to scrutiny. We take pride in being a steady, dependable partner within the health and social care landscape across Scotland.

Our culture is grounded in respect, accountability and a shared commitment to doing the right thing. We support our staff to grow, contribute and lead with confidence. We value professionalism, kindness and the ability to work with purpose.

About the role

Rated Grade 6 (Excellent) by the Care Inspectorate, Fullarton ARBD Service is recognised for delivering outstanding person-centred support that empowers people to live as independently as possible while achieving positive outcomes in their recovery journey.

At Fullarton ARBD Service, the focus is on recovery, with support that is flexible, person-centred and responsive to individual need. Our approach is about working alongside people living with Alcohol-Related Brain Damage to rebuild confidence, strengthen independence and develop everyday skills that support a meaningful and fulfilling life.

We support adults living with Alcohol-Related Brain Damage to maintain and develop independence, build on existing abilities and achieve a better quality of life at a pace that suits them. The emphasis is on choice, wellbeing and supporting each person to work towards their own goals, whether that is establishing routines, increasing confidence or becoming more involved in community life.

Fullarton is a registered care home, but the service is designed to feel very different from a traditional setting. With 22 self-contained flats, residents live in their own homes while having access to 24-hour support when needed. This support is offered in a flexible way, whether that is reassurance, guidance, practical help or simply a friendly conversation, always respecting privacy, independence and personal routine.

Support is built around developing trusting relationships and encouraging people to remain as independent as possible, while knowing help is available when required. The environment promotes stability, dignity and inclusion, with a strong focus on recovery and day-to-day wellbeing.

This role is based within a 24-hour service and requires you to work a shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the people we support.

Key areas of support include:

  • Supporting daily routines and independent living
  • Encouraging personal development and confidence building
  • Promoting wellbeing, inclusion and community connection
  • Building positive and trusting relationships
  • Supporting engagement in meaningful activities

We value a caring, patient and respectful approach, with an emphasis on maintaining dignity, choice and independence for every individual we support.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable and adaptable, with a genuine commitment to supporting others in a way that respects their choices and promotes their independence. You will be confident working in a personalised support environment, able to build positive relationships and respond flexibly to changing needs.

Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. An understanding of supporting individuals with Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD), and a commitment to working in a trauma-informed, inclusive and non-discriminatory way, is important.

As this is a 24-hour service, you must be able to work a shift pattern that includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Above all, you will share our values and be motivated to support individuals on their recovery journey to live safe, independent and fulfilling lives.

The benefits we offer

As part of Wheatley Care, we offer a sector-leading benefits package.

The successful candidate will receive:

  • Contributions towards dental, optical, driving lessons and more
  • Access to staff inclusion networks promoting an inclusive workplace
  • 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Programme

Committed to inclusion

Wheatley Care is always looking to improve diversity within our teams. We want to create an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute their best work and achieve their full potential.

We actively celebrate our individual differences and recognise the collective strength this brings to the organisation. It’s important that our teams represent the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from under-represented groups.

Please note that Wheatley Care does not hold a UK Visa and Immigration Sponsorship licence and is therefore unable to sponsor visa applications.
