Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team at East Renfrewshire's only Partnership Outdoor Nursery. This position would suit someone local to Glasgow South who is experienced and passionate about Outdoor Learning and has or is working towards the minimum of an SVQ level 3 in Childhood Practice or similar.

It is a term-time job working approximately 19 hours per week with set shifts on a Monday from 11-6, Wednesday 9.30-1.30 and a Friday 9.30-5.30. A degree of flexibility would be required as shift patterns may change to suit the needs of the business.

Candidates should be able:

1. To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in an outdoor setting.

2. To give support to the staff within this setting.

3. To work as part of a team in order to support the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident independent and creative learners.

4. To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.

5. To work towards providing a learner-led pedagogical approach, including play and choice, that is responsive to the needs, interests, learning preferences and dispositions of each child.

Main Duties:

1. To effectively deliver the Early Level of CfE ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members)

2. To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.

3. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

4. To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.

5. To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.

6. To advise the Management Team of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.

7. To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, etc.

8. To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.

9. To work alongside the Manager and Staff Team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is fulfilled.

10. To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.

11. To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person

12. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.

13. To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.

14. To support Childcare workers, students and volunteers.

15. To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

16. To undertake appropriate training and lead on additional responsibilities
