Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

To work as part of a team in planning and delivery of effective Out of School
Care provision to meet the individual needs of children and their families,
ensuring their wellbeing and improving play experiences and outcomes for all
service users

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

SVQ Level 2 in Playwork, SSCYP or CCLD (SQFF Level 6), or demonstratable equivalent
experience and knowledge.


Ability to gain the following:
PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups check) - prior to appointment.
Registration with Scottish Social Services Council - within 6 months after appointment

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Delivering a high quality Out of School Care service.
Experience of working directly with school aged children.
Experience of planning for and assessing children’s learning and play experiences.
Ability to relate to children, parents, carers and other professional colleagues.
Managing and maximising resources.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Using a variety of ICT packages including email, internet and Microsoft applications
(word and excel).
