Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

The post holder will support services in the development and implementation of procurement and contract strategies to obtain best value for money and sustainable cost reductions from expenditure on goods, services and works.

This post is part of shared arrangement with Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Highland Councils.

The location for the role can be someone based at Woodhill House, Aberdeen or Highland Council HQ in Inverness.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Relevant Business Studies / Administrative qualification to HNC level.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) desirable.

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Effective communicator and ability to liaise with staff at all levels
Ability to work on own initiative whilst understanding when to seek advice
Proven ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
Ability to produce accurate pieces of work, e.g. reports, spend analysis
Ability to advise on all areas of the procurement process
Effective negotiation skills
Project management skills
Proven ability to use Microsoft packages to produce emails, letters, reports and
presentations, e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word
