Job Description

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join the Risk & Resilience Team on an 18-month fixed secondment as a Community Resilience Project Officer.  Following the Winter Storms of 2021/22 (Arwen, Corrie and Malik), Aberdeenshire Council has begun a project to improve and develop the resilience of individuals, households, families and communities across Aberdeenshire.

The close working relationship with SSEN and the scale and impact of the winter storms has been recognised by SSEN who have provided Aberdeenshire Council with £1 million to improve resilience across Aberdeenshire.  The successful applicant will be influential in the development of this project, the allocation of funding and the overall improvement to resilience in Aberdeenshire.  The Project Officer will have two key roles; to oversee the allocation of funding and to work with community groups, partners and others, and to develop new and innovative ways of improving resilience.

The Project Officer will also support and lead the development of a Community Resilience Strategy for Aberdeenshire working towards a four ‘C’s approach of enhancing Capacity and Capability while improving Co-Operation and Connectedness.

The role allows for a mix of home and office working.  Some travel across Aberdeenshire and evening working will be required.

For further information or an informal discussion about the nature of the role please get in touch with Neil Cameron, Emergency Planning Officer (01467 530677) or Susan Donald, Corporate Finance Manager (01467 536186).
