Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Quality Improvement Manager (Secondary Education) to play a pivotal role in shaping the quality of education across our council area. This is a high-impact leadership position, working at the heart of school improvement. It will involve driving progress towards local and national priorities across Aberdeenshire’s 17 secondary schools, contributing to strategic development and supporting school improvement in line with ongoing national educational reform.

As a key member of our Quality Improvement Team, you will provide professional and management advice to officers, including Headteachers, in all areas of school performance ensuring that our schools engage in robust self-evaluation and effective improvement planning to meet and exceed expectations set by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE). You will champion continuous improvement, provide expert challenge and support to school leaders, and contribute to strategic planning at council level.

This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services and driving positive change for learners, staff and the wider community. You will contribute to improving the quality of learning and teaching to raise attainment and achievement for all and work closely with colleagues to support transitions at different stages of secondary education. You will establish and maintain a range of successful, complex internal and external relationships working closely with schools, national organisations and a range of partners to improve outcomes for all young people, with a strong focus on equity, inclusion and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who brings significant experience in school leadership, quality improvement or educational development. You will have strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive improvement, a deep understanding of national educational policy, priorities and developments, and a demonstrable understanding of HMIE expectations, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement, collaborative and collegiate working and high-quality service delivery.

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered. If you qualified as a Teacher out with Scotland, please visit GTCS – Qualified Outside Scotland and review the GTCS FAQs for more information around obtaining registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
