Job Description

Do you work in a trauma informed way and are you interested in securing children's future? If so, then we have a unique opportunity to join our team for a fixed term period. In the Adoption team you will be able to develop your own learning around the lifelong impact of early trauma and neglect. Our core business is around recruitment, preparation, and assessment of Prospective Adoptive families. You will be involved in finding Adoptive families for children through the linking and matching process and providing support in every aspect of this to help support the development of new attachment relationships. You will also be involved in delivering our range of Post Adoption Services, from facilitating groups to offering 1:1 family-based support. In the Adoption team we offer support to anyone affected by Adoption, this may be to birth parents who need support to manage any post adoption contact or an Adoptee who wishes to access their birth records and search for members of their birth family. The role of Social Worker in the Adoption team is diverse, challenging and rewarding.
Adoption is a complex landscape to work in and we offer a supportive team culture to help support your own development and ensure you can practice with empathy and compassion to make a meaningful connection with the children and families that we support. A few of the team were keen to share their experience of working in the Adoption team,

‘The Adoption Team is small, but perfectly formed! We all have a variety of experiences which add up to an incredibly supportive team who are always at hand when I have needed advice or support. We work closely with our families who have diverse needs, we are passionate about getting it right for our children and giving the families the service, they need to support their children. To deliver this, I have had great training opportunities including FASD, Developmental Trauma and DDP which has not only furthered my knowledge but helped me to pass on this knowledge to others.’ Adoption Social Worker.

I initially joined the Adoption Team on a secondment and am so glad I did. The opportunity to work as part of a team that is so supportive of one another, in which there is so much knowledge sharing, excellent communication and a shared passion for achieving good outcomes for children and families through adoption, has been so enjoyable, and has contributed so much to my own professional development in so many ways. Come and join us you will not regret it. Adoption Social Worker.

If this sounds like a team you would want to be part of give me a call, I would love to hear from you.
