Job Description

The North Community Mental Health Team is a busy and committed team of Social Workers focused on Self Directed Support assessment, planning and commissioning of care and support for adults living in Aberdeenshire. We require equally committed individuals with appropriate experience, knowledge, and skills to fill a full-time vacancy in North Aberdeenshire. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals including NHS Grampian, Police and third sector providers.

The successful candidate will provide a professional social work service to adults in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of social work duties. You will work collaboratively with clients who have complex needs to coproduce person centred assessments and outcome focused support plans that maximise abilities, enabling individuals to make choices and to work towards their identified outcomes, whilst identifying and minimising vulnerability and risks.

Social Workers who have an existing Mental Health Officer Qualification are also welcome to apply for this post and would be placed on the applicable pay scale. If the applicant has a Mental Health Officer qualification the job profile would be a blend of both, Social Worker and Mental Health Officer Job profiles attached.

Should the successful candidate not have their Mental Health Officer qualification there will be an opportunity to undertake this training in due course.

The post holder will cover all the team’s catchment area within North Aberdeenshire and as such some travel is expected.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
