Job Description

Provide a professional social work service to adults in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of social work duties and working collaboratively with clients who have complex needs to formulate support plans that maximise abilities, enable individuals to make choices and to work towards their identified goals, whilst identifying and minimising vulnerability and risks.

Work in partnership with families and carers, relevant professionals, other agencies and the wider community whilst adhering to all applicable legislation and Aberdeenshire Council policies and procedures, including both statutory and non-statutory requirements.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This is a 18.25 fixed term post with a hybrid working model of office and home based work.

This post is being advertised flexibly, along with ABS41910 (Social Worker, South Community Mental Health Team) to allow the opportunity to merge the posts together to create a full time opportunity (36.25 hours per week), should there be interest in this. This would involve working across 2 teams / localities with an office base in Central Aberdeenshire (either in Inverurie or Ellon) and an office base in South Aberdeenshire (in Stonehaven or Banchory). Set days would be negotiated for cover to each team. If this is something of interest, please make this known during any informal enquiries or application.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Fixed term for a period not exceeding 31/07/2025

This post has a minimum requirement a minimum of 2 references one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
