liveArgyll is a charity that operates leisure and sport facilities, libraries, halls, museums, and community centres across Argyll and Bute. We are seeking an individual with enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for coaching to join our Swim Team at Helensburgh Leisure Centre.

As a Swim Teacher, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to a diverse range of participants.

Your role as a Swim Teacher will involve instructing a variety of swim classes, ranging from beginners to advanced levels, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining a safe, clean, and accessible pool area, which includes tasks such as setting up equipment, performing regular safety checks, and overseeing the general safety and behaviour of swimmers. You will also be required to carry out emergency procedures if necessary. (This is a non-exhaustive list). Besides teaching, the position encompasses administrative responsibilities and other tasks essential for meeting business requirements.

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Essential: Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification;
  • Essential: Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays;
  • Desirable: Additional aquatic qualifications, such as Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguarding, First Aid, Health & Safety training, and experience with special needs swim instruction;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent customer service and teaching skills;
  • Good organisational ability;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision;
  • A genuine passion for swimming and teaching children.
