Administrative Officer
Portobello High School

Salary: £26,769 - £30,732 (pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional

We are looking for a happy, enthusiastic and organised person to join our busy team. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a busy office environment and be willing to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service.

Key areas of responsibilities of this role are the Administration of the SQA process in school, management of School Fund, organisation of recruitment and line management of a team of clerical and support assistants to provide a first class support service to the whole school community.

The successful candidate will require attention to detail, accuracy, high levels of organisation and the ability to work to exacting deadlines and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

They will also be competent users of ICT and have knowledge and experience of using databases, spreadsheets and word documents. Candidates will be expected to provide basic first aid and administer medication as appropriate.

A suitable qualification in first aid or considerable experience in this area along with a willingness to undertake any necessary training is essential.

Working hours will be:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday & Thursday 8am - 4.15pm

Friday 8am - 1pm

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
