CCTV Monitoring Operator
Edinburgh Operations Centre, City Chambers

Salary: £23,651 - £23,857 (Shift arrangement payments are £8,373 annually on top of the annual salary)
Hours: 36 per week

Purpose of Job To provide 24 hour a day, 365 day a year, monitoring of a range of public space CCTV cameras from the Edinburgh Operations Centre (EOC).

• Monitor images from Public Space CCTV cameras across the city, with particular attention to any suspicious circumstances or incidents.
• Prioritise live incidents and make decisions with respect to recording and identifying suspect individuals and incidents.
• Carry out duties in accordance with the designated Code of Practice, Operators Guidelines and legislation.
• Operate equipment in the Operations Centre in a correct and efficient way with strict adherence to Health and Safety guidelines.
• Operate and monitor equipment at the Multi Agency Control Centre (MACC) based within Police Scotland complex at Fettes, Edinburgh, during major events.
• Participate in periodic RIPSA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Scotland Act) surveillance operations making sure the operations comply with the document granting permission.
• Record incidents on a shift log and enter into a database for production of statistical data.
• Leave cameras in rest positions which maximise the opportunities for evidence collection
• Monitor 5 police radio channels covering the city
• Review and prioritise requests for viewing of recorded footage making sure urgent or time pressured requests are dealt with first
• Conduct the viewing using the digital video management system and any other recording systems for any mobile/portable cameras within the vicinity of the incident.
• Ensure details of viewing are recorded on appropriate logs/databases for production of statistical data
• Ensure all footage viewed complies with relevant legislation Produce evidence packages for court cases and further investigations by police
• Present evidence packages to officers explaining location/context of images
• Quality control packages produced by other operators
• Ensure all footage leaving the EOC does so in accordance with appropriate legislation
• Follow strict audit trail so that all footage can be accounted for
• Attend court, if requested, to testify about the unit’s procedures and to authenticate images. General administration duties
• Record incidents on a shift log and enter into a database for production of statistical data
• Produce statistical reports as requested by management
• Produce monthly report for Ops Supervisor on own performance

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
