Job Description

Chief Officer

Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership/Integration Joint Board

The City of Edinburgh is a beautiful and vibrant place to live and work. We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to lead the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) as we continue on our journey of strategic transformation, innovation and improvement.

Edinburgh is one of the largest health and social care partnerships in Scotland, with a population of over 526,000 providing a range of primary and community-based health and adult social care services. With a team of 6,000 staff at Edinburgh HSCP we never lose sight of why we’re here, to deliver the very best outcomes for our service users and patients.

Delivery of a caring, healthier and safer Edinburgh is the vision of the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (EIJB) and our 6 strategic priorities set out how we will achieve this.

Transformation is not just changing how services are structured. Transformation is about making significant changes to how services are planned and delivered in partnership with people who use them and above all demonstrate a clear commitment to Edinburgh HSCP’s values.

We want to attract the best talent. Someone who acts with integrity and embraces and projects collective, compassionate, and inspirational leadership.

You will have a track record of transforming and improving services, forging strategic partnerships, and influencing local agencies to ensure the widest possible engagement and collaboration. This will be matched with a strong focus on good governance.

Ideally, you will be an experienced senior systems leader within social care or health. You will be attuned to the demands of regulation and public scrutiny. You will have significant experience of how integrated health and care systems operate, but more importantly how the different facets of the system interrelate so that innovation, improvement, and integration occur naturally. You will be recognised by your peers for your innately collaborative leadership style and natural ability to build trust across all stakeholders.

These important qualities will be combined with innovative strategic vision and courage to act decisively to lead the HSCP, ensuring we have strong public and staff engagement, a culture that enables staff to thrive and delivers the best outcomes for our patients and service users.
