Kirkliston Primary seeks to appoint a highly motivated, experienced and dynamic individual with an excellent track record in Primary teaching, who has leadership and management experience and will play a key role within our Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for second level; including staffing, PRDs and ASN co-ordinator for the level. As a whole school remit, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for Digital Learning, Attainment, Tracking and Monitoring, alongside an overview of one area of the school curriculum (Literacy, Numeracy or Health and Wellbeing). As ASN lead for a level, a good working knowledge of GIRFEC and experience of chairing Child Planning Meetings is desirable.

Kirkliston Primary School serves the village of Kirkliston and the surrounding rural area and has a wide social mix. The school is part of the Queensferry cluster of schools. The roll is approximately 606, spread over 22 classes. Our three classes of P1 pupils are located in the new purpose built facility on Kirklands Park Street along with our nursery children.

Our staff consists of Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, Business Manager, two Principal Teachers, 22 class teachers, two Additional Support for Learning Teachers, A family support teacher, Specialist Teacher of PE and instructors of strings and brass. Our support staff include a School Administrator, Clerical Assistant, two Pupil Support Officers and 20 Pupil Support Assistants. The nursery is an integral part of the whole school establishment which can offer places to 6 babies, 30 2 year olds and 80 3-4 year old. The team is led by 2 Senior Early Years Officers who are supported by 3 Early Years Officers, 7 Early Years Practitioners, 1 EYA and 1 Domestic Assistant.

The Depute Headteachers will deputise for the Headteacher in her absence, have responsibility for leading a department, leading and developing the curriculum, leading staff training, and will participate in the review and implementation of various school policies.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
