We are seeking an ambitious, experienced and flexible individual to lead the City of Edinburgh's Governance Team.
Leading a team with a diverse and varied role we are looking for a confident, adaptable and creative professional able to navigate complex political and administrative challenges while always ensuing that the rigorous standards of behaviour and procedure are upheld. The team undertake a wide range of activities to ensure the Council operates with a robust governance framework. The team also work to the Monitoring Officer in administering and delivering an impartial whistleblowing service. You will have well-developed political sensitivity as you will need to deliver impartial advice to all political groups and to senior management on number of sensitive and difficult issues. The successful individual will have a track record of working in dynamic organisations, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills and the ability to provide impartial and high quality advice to both senior officers and elected members. They will need the ability to think and act quickly often providing advice under pressurised situations and in doing so have the ability to build trusted senior relationships across the Council.
Set within the a broader Democratic, Governance and Resilience team the successful candidate will have a rare opportunity to play a crucial role at the heart of the capital city of Scotland ensuring that the City of Edinburgh Council delivers its Business Plan and wider responsibilities, supporting the elected members who develop and drive that agenda.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
