Job Description

Place

Housing Operations – Building Surveyor (Preservation)
Waverley Court

Salary: £40,275 - £47,654 per year
Hours: 36 per week

This is a fantastic opportunity for surveyors who have qualifications in preservation and have outstanding customer care and communication skills to join a new team being set up in the Council’s Housing Operations service to manage dampness, mould and condensation in our tenancies. We are looking for people who will thrive on the opportunity to support our tenants who are experiencing these issues in their homes and who will show respect, care and consideration for our tenants’ wellbeing.

The identification and effective treatment of dampness, mould and condensation in Council homes is a key priority for the Council to ensure that tenants are safe in their homes and the team will be responsible for:

• Early identification of cases of dampness, mould and condensation;
• Quickly establish the root cause, by carrying out intrusive surveys (if required) at the earliest opportunity;
• Respond quickly with remedial action to minimise the risk to tenants; and
• Ensure long term solutions to rectify the issue and/or continue to treat the problem until such time as a permanent solution can be effected.

We are looking for two Preservation Building Surveyors to join the new team. The primary responsibility will be to carry out surveys in Council homes to establish the root cause of dampness, mould and condensation, produce survey reports with recommendations for scope of work, and work with the team to ensure remedial works are undertaken to resolve the issues. The surveyors will work with a team of operative staff to assist with undertaking intrusive surveys when required and will liaise with other colleagues in the team and contractors as required.

The successful applicant will be an experienced surveyor interested in taking on a new challenge and will be a self-starter able to build relationships, support a new team, and to plan and manage workloads and resources effectively. Surveyors will be in contact with tenants on a daily basis and the ability to communicate with care, respect and empathy are an absolute priority in this role.
