Are you kind, caring and passionate about supporting children and young people and their families?  Do children, young people and families respond well to your support?  Do you have the skills and values to support young people and their families to engage with school and to thrive?

Craigmount High School is recruiting a Pupil Support Officer (PSO) to support young people with their engagement with school and to support / build relationships with their families.  We hope to appoint a PSO who will help us to bridge the gap between school and home.

Experienced PSAs or those who can demonstrate experience of working with children and their families, are encouraged to apply.

The post will involve building relationships of trust with children and their families and may involve support in family homes.  The PSO will be part of the Pupil Support Team and our external agencies support, including our Educational Welfare Officer.

We are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience and backgrounds bring to us as an organisation.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
